When I student taught, the teacher I worked with was wonderful. He read the story of Barrington Bunny at Christmas time and the kids LOVED it… it’s a story with such a sweet message. A few years later, I got to school and there was something on my desk with a sticky note on it. The sticky note said, “A gift, a free gift, with no strings attached. Signed: A member of your family.” I knew immediately it was from my old teacher friend… You are right – truly FREE gifts are the best kinds, and they are becoming more rare…

Susan,
Thank you. I, too, loved the story of Barrington. And as I read it I was thinking that a ‘free gift’ is a natural extension of really ‘seeing’ someone, knowing them, and giving them something that speaks to them.
