the weakness of the thing criticized. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This brings to mind another favorite quote on Power.
*Both quotes remind me to check the mirror and make sure that I’m standing straight and tall.

…or the weakness of the person criticizing.
Critical people are constantly negative, reactive people.
I bless them on their way.
Donna,
I always love your perspective.
I did not get that out of that quote, but you are absolutely right.
and on a completely different tangent…
I wonder why folks turn off the comments on their blogs and miss all the wisdom and knowledge from the wise people who take the time to read.
Are we speaking of anyone in particular?
And on a completely different topic…
Most people who know me know I ADORE color. It’s possibly my favorite thing on the planet.
And I want to thank you for creating such a beautiful blog. I am thrilled every time I land here.
Donna,
No, I wasn’t referring to a particular person. There is an ongoing discussion about whether to turn comments off on blogs. It’s not up for discussion with me. I wouldn’t have grown as much as I have without the comments on this blog.
The comments are like the other pieces to the puzzle.
The biggest worry for blogs with comments turned on is managing the spam. My blog, which I REALLY need to make more accessible, and clean up my overall web presence, gets only a few comments, and only when I’ve written something that sparks people’s imagination. Sigh. I wish I could write well enough to do that every time.
My point being that, for every real comment I get, there are often HUNDREDS of spam comments, which luckily the spam-catcher quarantines, but I still have to go through and check to make sure there are no false positives. Living in hope, I guess, that maybe someone liked what I was trying to say. So many miles to go before I sleep…
Hi Bruce,
Before I got a spam-catcher, I received landslides of comments about p**no sites, p***s enhancement products, and other crap that I’m not interested in.
Honestly, it never occurred to me to go through what the spam-catcher collects to mine for pearls.
I’d rather hang with my kids, and risk making a commenter mad.
I really believe that plenty of people might like what they read (not necessarily on my blog, but certainly on your blog and other sites) and they just aren’t comfortable putting their thoughts out there.
